Restraining order

I'm from New York. I was charged with 2nd degree aggravated harrassment. The person that filed the charges also filed a restraining order (order of protection.)

The accuser ended up dropping the charges. My question is: Is the restraining order still active, or does it go away once the charges were dropped by the DA?

I posted about this earlier but it didn't show up. I lived with my ex boyfriend for years and totally trusted him. During this time I developed an illness, had to leave work and get on disability. He helped take care of me (did not require that much work). At one point I gave him my atm card number to get some cash. Over several years he emptied out my bank account little by little. I didn't look carefully at my bank records til it was empty and now the bank won't help me as they only go back 60 days and they refuse to even deal w the 60 days. He also forged checks for a limited amount of time.

He is from a wealthy family but they are stingy with him. His mom refused to pay me back. He is unemployed, has been so for two years. He gets unemployment, which they keep renewing. He says he'll pay me when he gets a job but I doubt he ever will, and if he does get jobs he gets laid off then goes back on unemployment, which is barely enough to pay rent. I want to pressure his parents to pay me back so I don't have to chase after him the rest of my life. So I want to have him arrested. I called the cops on him last spring when I first caught him but did not have him arrested. Please tell me what is in store for me and for him if I do this. How long will it drag on? What if his parents refuse to post bail? If it drags on can I drop the whole thing? I may not be able to stomach it and I also might want to move away. Would the judge ask me questions about my illness, employment, or assets? (I now have some due to an insurance settlement). How long would his sentence be? It's grand larceny and check forgery. What kind of defense might be mount? His stepdad is a lawyer (not criminal). If no one pays his bail then what? If he confesses right away please describe the whole procedure. Thanks.

I am in NY and got caught up in a job scam and lost $

i saw an ad on CL for a NYC tour company that needed girls to help this guy get a deal with investors for his company all the girls had to do is show up at dinner

and look nice(not as an escort) no illegal stuff was supposed to happen or anything so i met the owner for an interview and we met at a bar for it which was strange and he said the job would be for giving tours and sales which wasnt in the ad so i had said sure that sounds good and he told me id get a car to take home and everything. So after we met i was supposed to start Monday and it never happened then i was supposed to start another day and it never happened then he told me to meet him and said he needed $ for a tour license

so i gave it and didn't hear from him for a few days and he asked for more $

for the license and he said i would stark work again and it never happened so then i asked for my $ back and he kept coming up with excuses for 2 weeks

and even said he sent it to my address and i never got it

i starting digging and found out that one if the hotels he uses for his tour company never heard of him.

what should i do?

i haven't heard from him in 5 days

My son is 20 and his father took out 3 credit cards in my sons name without consent. These accounts have gone delinquent so my son filed a police report against his father. Since then my ex husband moved to a different apartment and my son was afraid that the apartment was in his name. So i called the Superintendant, and the gentleman let me know that the apartment was in fact under my ex husbands name. My ex called me yesterday threatning me that I had broken the law. Did i in fact break any law or is this just another one of many scare tactics he's used over the years to manipulate my son and I?

Is it okay to contact the Public Defender?

New York , NY

Hello all:

I was arrested for shoplifting in NYC last month. $225.00 at grocery store.

When I went to court, a Public Defender handled my case. It was all a blur when I got before the Judge. I think that the Prosecutor offered to knock it down to disorderly conduct, but the Public Defender (per our discussion beforehand) rejected that and I have to go back next month to a "Part A" court. He said he will try to negotiate an ACD disposition for me.

My question is, he gave me his card. Is it appropriate for me to send him an email to ask the status of my case and to confirm what I think happened when I was before the Judge? I would like to do this and not just wait till I go back and find out.

THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE!

California larceny

Hi, I was arrested on Grand Larceny in California hired an attorney that fought the charges for about 8 mos or so. It was being dragged out for so long. My mother became sick so I had to return to the East Coast to take care of her. I flew back for 2 court dates. Both being my arraignment. No judgement was handed down. Frustrating me as I was running slowly on funds and lost my job. Now, Stuck in New york with my mom.

I plan to take care of this but need time to save money for a new attorney. Thanks to finding temp work.

What are the chances of being picked up in NYC?

And how should I go about it when I return to California?
