Can our daughter legally drop out of high school w/out our consent at age 16years?

If so, do we have the legal right to expect her to support herself ? Which may include moving out.

Thanks!

Sentencing / Parole / Pardons / Plea Bargains
Okay, this is the first time I have ever done this, but I am at a loss for where to turn. Here we go. For starters, we live in a very small, rural area, 1000 people and corn fields basically. Since June, we have had someone coming into our home and taking very personal items, namely bras and underwear that belong to me. This individual has been doing this for 20 plus years but there have never been any charges filed for this type of thing. There are many details I could give, however, to make a long story short, we caught him on video coming in my 7 1/2 year olds' bedroom window and coming down our hallway and taking more of my bras and underwear out of a laundry basket and promptly putting them on and strutting around my kitchen. They arrested him, a parolee currently, with 3 or 4 meth violations, and revoked probation and bail rights.

Now comes the questions, they have no case and they realize that. When we met with the state's attorney, we were told that even though he has a meth charge, also while on probation, we will be lucky to get him locked up for a maximum of 10 years.

When we went to identify all the stuff he had taken, he also had my 2 1/2 year olds clothing and my 7 1/2 year old sons clothing......ALL of our stuff had the crotches cut out. He also took alot of my very personal jewelry. I believe he is escalating and there is no doubt in my mind...with the 20 years of counseling he has had.....that he is uncapable of getting better. The last time he came into my home...when he was caught....he waited until 4 p.m. to come in and my son should have been home and I very well could have been. My belief is that he was looking for a confrontation at this point. I need to know what my legal rights are and if, at this point, I should be trying to hire my own attorney. Please help, my family is lost as to how to handle this situation and we have at this time, been able to keep the kids completely out of this situation. I am terrified that he will do this again only it will be with physical contact.

Also, you should probably know that the state's attorney did state that if we can get others in the community to i.d. any of the things they already have in custody, there will be more charges added. They haven't even found everything on my list yet, so I know there is another hiding place.n He knew he needed to move this stuff due to the fact that in January (first parole violation due to meth) that when they searched and found over 100 bras and panties, that it could happen again.

What can I legally due to keep this from happening to another family or in order to keep him from hurting a child next? This has been traumatic enough for me......God Bless the Child and their family that would have to deal with this.

IL Legal QuestionIllinois DUI on a Rhode Island License
Drunk Driving / DUI / DWI
Well I got pulled over for a DUI in Dupage County back in November '08. I hold a RI license as I am only a student in Illinois. The case went to court and my statutory summons was expunged to do clerical error so I never lost my license in Illinois. My criminal end of the DUI resulted in Court Supervision.

That was back in February of '09 when the court issues were resolved. Yet, on Monday I was told by my parents in RI that I received a letter at their home saying my license is being suspended indefinitely due to a CONVICTION for a DUI that occurred in Illinois. I was told by the judge that court supervision is not a conviction.

Is this simply a miscommunication between Illinois and Rhode Island? When I called the RI office in charge of this situation they said "just send us the court documents". Are they going to read a Court Supervision as a conviction? Or should I just send the favorable ruling of the rescinding of the statutory summons?

My lawyer from Illinois is being of no help right now claiming that "they don't handle RI issues". I feel this is still the Illinois issue and that I took 10 steps forward and 15 back.

Any help would be VERY appreciated.

IL Legal QuestionDL in one state, DWI in another
Drunk Driving / DUI / DWI
I was charged with DWI in North Carolina during March. At the time, I had an Illinois DL. Last month, I obtained a North Carolina DL. This month, I was convicted of DWI in NC.

Do I need to file anything or let IL know about my DWI? If so, what do I need to do?

IL Legal QuestionForged Contract In Another State
Other Crimes – Federal and State
My wife was recently sued in Illinois by a funeral home using a document on which someone had forged her signature. The original contract was with her step-father but she is executor of her mother's estate. Someone, either at the funeral home or at the attorney's office, forged my wife's first initial and last name onto a copy of the estimate of charges, which was with her step-father, evidently using a letter she had written to them from which to copy. We live in Texas and she did not appear in the Illinois court to answer a fraudulent suit, thus a judgement was entered against her. I am trying to convince her to press charges. Since she is a Texas resident and the funeral home is in Illinois, it would seem to me that this would be a Federal case. Should she contact Federal authorities or Illinois authorities to press charges against the funeral home director? We believe the attorney may also be involved. We have paid the funeral home more than $1,300 over and above the cost of the funeral but the attorney is trying to collect his fee and additional interest on the basis of the judgement. My wife owns no property and has no assets in Illinois, but she is a beneficiary to her mother's will, which includes a home and farm which are owned by a trust her mother set up many years ago. We could pay the fee but are livid that they would use a forged contract to file the suit in the first place. What are our options as far as pressing charges for the forgery and fraud?

Drug Charges
A friend of mine was recently arrested for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance. I don't want to go into detail but this is most certainly not his first offense and he is/was currently on probation for possession of a controlled substance. As I figure he will be doing some time I was just wondering how to make his stay as comfortable as possible. What is the best way for me to go about getting him put into the most comfortable, safe environment?
